About Chuck Self

In search of mild temperatures and a place to unwind, Chuck Self made his first visit to the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau more than 20 years ago on a summer getaway with his family. During that short visit, Chuck realized that Western North Carolina was where he wanted to be. The desire for the mountain lifestyle led him to search for property in the area for several years until he found the perfect piece of land on which to build a dream home. Intended to be a second residence until Chuck's retirement, the home soon took precedence; the lure of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains inspired him to say “goodbye” to the intense pace, traffic, and heat of Atlanta when construction was completed. And so, the simplicity and splendor of full-time mountain living began. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Chuck enjoyed a successful sales career in the television and entertainment industry, experiencing multiple relocations and finishing as vice president of sales for Raycom Sports in Charlotte and Warner Brothers Television in Atlanta, before parlaying his corporate experience and skills into real estate more than a decade ago. A University of Missouri alumnus, Chuck is perennially one of the top real estate brokers on the Plateau. When he’s not helping clients, Chuck enjoys hiking, golfing, fitness activities, cooking, reading, and boating on Lake Glenville. He is an active contributor to the Cashiers community, having previously served in board positions with the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina, and the Highlands-Cashiers Board of Realtors. Currently, Chuck serves as the President of the Blue Ridge School Education Foundation. He is a member of the club at Lonesome Valley and Country Club of Sapphire Valley. He looks forward to mountain visits from his daughter in Atlanta and his son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons in Nashville.
